Hey FNED folks,
Hope you are enjoying your day of! I have been reading lots of your blogs and love hearing all you have to say. Comments to follow!
When we meet on Thursday, we have a lot to do together:
1) Don't forget to read and mark up your SL journals so you have a strong sense of which authors seem to resonate most with your experience.
2) Read the Lawrence piece carefully so we can have a rich discussion about Brown v. Board of Education. (In your midterm letters, someone suggested that perhaps you should print out your blog post and bring it in so you have notes in front of you for our discussion. Try that this week so we can hit the ground running!). And don't hesitate to insert links like I have here if it helps you make sense of the many confusing issues in the article!!
3) Don't forget your Career Commitment Essay for Thursday.
4) Your FSEHD applications are due soon and you will need two evaluation forms (one from me and one from your SL teacher) to turn in with it. Please bring in the blue evaluation form that I have to fill out for you so that i can turn them around for you this week.
See ya Thursday!!

Dr Bogad, it's nice to see you've decided to stop slacking :)
One of my professors always told me that comics are a great tool in education. So I posted a comic on my blog... yAy!!
Dr. Bogad... we havent even discussed what i can do to go about to writing my essay. Christina helped me out a little, but... okaii nvm i will turn in what I can... see you in a few...
Hey Dr. Bogad,
We just finished up with our meeting. I am in one of the Delpit groups and we are making really good progress! Some of our theories were written this weekend and the rest we worked on during our meeting. It was productive, as it is 11:09 as we are done. We have a total of 6 authors, including our main author. As for now, it is just the stories that need to be composed and some of them are already done. Productive day!
Hi! Dr. Bogad. Hope im doin this correctly but, yeah the group met and I feel like we have a lot accomplished but then again we might not have done so if Alyson did not like take charge. When she showed up she jumped right into the assignment and she kept us on track. She brought her laptop and was writing as we were explaining. Like wit me i struggle wit mah english so we tried a different method... i tried telling them wat i felt and wat i thought and they summed it up. So i give a lot of the credit to Alyson. Btw hope your having fun on your vacation its like raining really hard here and i walked into thelibrary soaked!
Hi Dr. Bogad. Today was pretty productive because our group finished writing all of our theories for our authors. We have some of our stories but through e-mail we'll all share our stories with each other and possibly plan another day to get together and put the whole paper together. I think this paper will be a success and it isn't as hard as it seems because basically we're each doing just 1/4th of the paper(in the Delpit group with four people.)
Hope you're having a great time away from RI.
and oh yeah. You should have seen the library with basically our WHOLE classroom in the study room. It was as if we had class in the library.
Hi Dr. Bogad.
Chris, Jackie and I met this morning in the lounge area of the library. We spent a good chunk of our time discussing our stories and their connections to the authors. I enjoyed listening and conversing with each story. We set up a google document, like you had suggested. Thanks for the advice on the paper and the continous encouragement that you give our class.
I hope you enjoy the break.
Alex
hi Dr Bogad.
My group is doing great on our project. we worked for about and hour and a half and have decided to give google docs a try. Overall it went great :)
Hey Dr. Bogad,
Talking Points #9
I met with Crystal and Amanda today in the library. We shared our stories and experiences from our Service Learning Projects. By sharing our experiences, we were able to determine the authors that best related to our experiences. I chose Delpit, Oakes, and Carlson as the authors to form my theories around. It was a very productive meeting as we were able to see what each other's experiences are like.
Enjoy your break!
Hey Dr. Bogad,
Meeting with the group was cool. Ya know it was weird because for the Election Project I felt in charge and it was weird to have someone else take over. It was good though. We got a lot done thanks to Alyson she really guided our group. She came prepared like REALLY prepared lol! All that is left is some individual stories and a conclusion! yayyy!
Hi Dr. Bogad,
Kandace, Kelly and I met and discussed our experiences and made some connections. We started a google doc and plan to use that to help put our paper together. We're off to a good start! Enjoy your holiday!! :)
Hey Dr. Bogad,
Just checking in with you about our meeting today. I met with James and Amanda in the conference room at the library. Through our discussions on the concepts and authors we came to a conclusion on three authors Delpit, Carlson and Oakes. We are going to use google doc's over break to work collaboratively our stories. I have one question for you. We have come to conclusion on three authors, do we need to have another author?
Thanks for your time, Crystal
Enjoy your break :)
Dear Dr. Bogad
Katie and I met around 10:20 til 12noon. Our meeting went well. We worked on our introduction and some of our theories were written down. Katie and I have decided to use google docs. We think is a great idea. Thank you.
I hope you enjoy your time off.
Hi Dr. Bogad, Brian and I met today during our usual class time. Basically we went over our individual experiences and decided which authors we would focus on. All we have left is to co-write our responses together and work on our individual pieces.
--Regina
So Alyssa and I have everything set up. For our intro we are going to find similarities and differences between our schools and classroom and describe them. We know all the theory’s we are using and have found the quotes from each reading that we are going to use to introduce the theory. We are going to be sending each other our stories during the break and also be trying to piece them together. Can’t wait to see how everything turns out.
oh yeh, my group met. we talked we laughed, we decided what stories to write...
eep! how horrible i forgot to post! Christy, Kelly and I met in the library along with the rest of the class pretty much (although I see you've heard) to discuss our stories. We talked for about an hour and a half and figured out the authors we all connected with the most from our service learning. We each have 2 out of 3 author/story connections and made plans to figure out over the break what our third would be. Lovely group, great meeting :)
Hi Dr. Bogad,
I'm sorry I forgot to blog about the group meeting on Tuesday. Alex, Jackie and I met at the library and discussed the authors and stories we were going to share. We also set up a google document like you suggested. Looks like that will work great. Thanks!
See you in class on Tuesday!
Chris
dr. bogad, is it okay that i wrote my update for the last class on my blog? i didnt know we had to write it as a comment on yours
Talking Points #9
Regina and I met at our usual class time on Tuesday and went over the project. We made quite a bit of progress in terms of choosing our authors and discussing each of our schools. See you soon. Brian
My group met during our regular schedule class time and we worked on it for an hour and half. we got a lot of work done and we decided to use google docs.
Dr. Bogad..
I met with Crystal and James on tuesday and it went really well! we got a lot done. we talked about our service learning projects and our authors as well. we seem to have a really good start to our project! see you tomorrow :)
S.L. Meeting
Sorry it took me so long to comment... Well me and Lisbeth met last Tuesday. We disscussed the quotes we were doing and all the stories we were going to use. We also made an outline of how the paper would flow. I can't wait to see how it turns out because I never ever wrote a group paper. But I worked with Lisbeth before, so I know we click :)
totally forgot to leave a comment about how my meeting went!
Yulisse and i got alot of planning our paper out done. we know which parts we are doing "alone" and which authors are for both of us. we know we have to use 3 authors each so there is going to be 4 or 5 paragraphs. its looking good but meeting is difficult because of our schedules and her family life.
